Who is responsible

AmikoCrochet (amikocrochet.com), a business based in Wyoming, USA, is responsible for the personal data described here. Contact: contact@amikocrochet.com.

What we collect and why

  • Order data (name, email address, billing details, order contents) to take payment and deliver your patterns. Checkout and payments are processed by Shopify.
  • Your email address to send the download email with your private links. This email is sent through our email delivery provider.
  • Download data: when you open a download link, we keep limited technical data for a short time to deliver your files and keep download links secure.
  • Newsletter: if you subscribe, we keep your email address in our Shopify customer list and use it to send you new patterns and offers. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any of these emails or by emailing us.
  • Messages you send us: if you use our contact form or email us, we receive your name, email address, phone number (optional on the form) and your message, so we can answer you. Our support inbox is hosted by our email inbox provider.
  • Reviews: if you write a product review, the name, rating, text and any photos you submit are processed by our reviews provider and the review is shown publicly on our store.
  • Store usage data: information about how you use our store, such as pages and products viewed, items added to your cart, checkouts started, purchases, your device, browser, IP address and approximate location. It is collected through cookies and similar technologies by Shopify and by the analytics and advertising tools described below.

Cookies, analytics and advertising

We use the following tools on our store. Where the law requires your consent (for example in the European Union and the United Kingdom), analytics and advertising cookies are only used after you accept them in our cookie banner.

  • Shopify sets cookies that the store needs to work (for example your cart and checkout) and collects store usage data for Shopify's own analytics.
  • Meta Pixel and Conversions API (Meta Platforms): when you visit our store, the Meta Pixel sends Meta information about your visit, such as pages and products viewed, items added to your cart, checkouts started, and purchases with their value and currency, together with your IP address, browser details and cookie identifiers. When you make a purchase or start a checkout, Shopify may also send Meta this information directly from its servers (Conversions API), including your email address, phone number, name and address in a hashed (scrambled) form so Meta can match the event to a Meta account. We use this to measure our Facebook and Instagram ads, show ads to people who visited our store, and find new people who may like our patterns. Meta uses this data under its own Privacy Policy (facebook.com/privacy/policy).
  • Microsoft Clarity: we partner with Microsoft Clarity and Microsoft Advertising to capture how you use and interact with our website through behavioural metrics, heatmaps and session replay, to improve and market our products. Website usage data is captured using first- and third-party cookies and other tracking technologies to understand the popularity of our products and online activity. We also use this information for site optimisation, fraud and security purposes, and advertising. For more information about how Microsoft collects and uses your data, see the Microsoft Privacy Statement (privacy.microsoft.com/privacystatement).

Your privacy choices

  • Cookie choices: you can accept or decline analytics and advertising cookies in our cookie banner, and change your choice later via the privacy settings link in our store footer.
  • US residents: some US states give you the right to opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of personal data and of targeted advertising. Sending store usage data to Meta for advertising may count as a sale or sharing under these laws. You can opt out on our Your Privacy Choices page (amikocrochet.com/pages/data-sharing-opt-out). We also honour Global Privacy Control browser signals where the law requires it.
  • Meta ads: you can manage the ads you see on Facebook and Instagram in your Meta Ad Preferences.
  • Newsletter: unsubscribe at any time using the link in any newsletter email.

Who processes it for us

Shopify (store, checkout, payments, orders, customer list, newsletter sign-ups), our email delivery provider (download emails), our download delivery provider (download links), our email inbox provider (support emails) and our reviews provider (product reviews). They process data on our behalf to provide these services.

Meta and Microsoft receive data through the tools described in "Cookies, analytics and advertising" and also use it for their own purposes under their own privacy policies.

We do not sell your personal data for money. Some of the advertising described above may count as a "sale" or "sharing" under some US state laws; see "Your privacy choices".

International transfers

We are based in the USA and our service providers may process your data in the USA and other countries. Where data from the European Union or the United Kingdom is transferred, we rely on the safeguards our providers offer, such as the EU Standard Contractual Clauses, the UK International Data Transfer Addendum, or the EU–US Data Privacy Framework where the provider is certified.

Legal bases (EU and UK customers)

We use your data:

  • to perform our contract with you: taking payment, delivering your patterns and download links, and helping with your order;
  • to meet legal obligations: keeping order, tax and accounting records;
  • based on your consent: analytics and advertising cookies (Meta, Microsoft Clarity) and our newsletter. You can withdraw consent at any time, without affecting earlier processing;
  • based on our legitimate interests: answering your messages, showing reviews, and keeping our store and download links secure and free of abuse.

How long we keep it

Download data is kept only as long as needed to deliver your files and keep download links secure. Order records are kept as long as needed to provide our service and to meet legal, tax and accounting obligations. Newsletter data is kept until you unsubscribe. Messages are kept as long as needed to answer you and handle any follow-up. Data held by Meta and Microsoft is kept according to their own policies.

Your rights

You can ask us for a copy of your personal data, or to correct or delete it, by emailing contact@amikocrochet.com. Depending on where you live, you may also have the right to restrict or object to how we use your data, to receive your data in a portable format, to withdraw consent, and to opt out of sale, sharing or targeted advertising. We will not treat you differently for using these rights.

You may also have further rights under the privacy law that applies to you, including making a complaint to your privacy regulator (for example, your national data protection authority in the EU, the Information Commissioner's Office in the UK, or the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner in Australia).

Children

Our store is not directed at children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from them.

Changes

We may update this policy; the date of the current version is shown at the top of this page.
